Mrs. Archie Mae Reed

Sister Archie Reed peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, in Magnolia, Arkansas. She was born on January 14, 1949, in Magnolia, the second of eleven children born to the late Eva and Arthur Ellis. Archie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. In 1982, she united with CC Driver Revival Church, where she faithfully served in the choir until returning to Magnolia in 2014. Even after relocating, she remained connected to CC Driver Revival Church. In 2022, she became a dedicated member of Unity African Methodist Episcopal Church in Magnolia, where she served faithfully as a member and as the Culinary Leader. In 1990, Archie was united in marriage to her devoted husband, Ardie Reed, with whom she shared 35 years of love and companionship. Archie attended Douglas School in Cleveland, Texas, and later pursued Child Nutrition studies at Pasadena Community College in Pasadena, Texas. She worked for 29 years at New Caney High School in New Caney, Texas, retiring in 2012. After returning to Magnolia, she found joy and fulfillment serving as the Head Cook at the Magnolia Housing Authority beginning in 2016 until the Lord called her home. Known for her kindness, warm spirit, and passion for cooking, Archie touched countless lives through her dedication to children, her service, and her generous heart. Archie was a devoted mother to three children, whom she cherished deeply: Ever Lee Mosley (Joseph), the late Audra Humphrey (Billy), and Emmons Johnson. Beyond her own children, she opened her home and heart to more than 40 additional children throughout her life, raising them with unconditional love and support. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Audra Humphrey; brothers Johnny Driver, Timothy Ellis, Danny Ellis, David Ellis, and John Arthur Ellis; and sisters Daisy Ellis and Wanda Williams. Her legacy of love continues through those who remain: her husband, Ardie Reed; siblings Mary Johnson (Charles), Willie “Mitch” Ellis, and Anita Ellis; children Ever Lee Mosley (Joseph) and Emmons Johnson; stepchildren Chris Reed, Shameka Beasly, Felicia Reed, Anthony Brooks, Hayward Johnson Jr., Terri Johnson, Paul Johnson, Clyde Johnson, and Gary Wayne; and a host of grandchildren, including Marcus Hamilton, Dennis Ellis (Jona), Marietta Hamilton, Marquisa Hamilton, Mizzell Hamilton, Malyke Hamilton, Makaliah Hamilton, Meldon Hamilton, Janiyah Mosley, Lilianna Ellis, Tresean Ellis, Neajah Ellis, Ukiah Ellis, and Nicolas Johnson, and a great-grandson soon to be born, Adonis, expected in two months if it is the Lord’s will. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever cherish her memory. Celebration of Life services will be held Saturday, September 6th, 2025, at Unity A.M.E. Church in Magnolia (Freehope), Arkansas at 1:00 p.m., with burial to follow at Freehope Cemetery in Magnolia under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home, LLC. Visitation will be Friday, {Sep. 5th}, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at R.L. Reed Funeral Home in Magnolia, Arkansas. “For precaution due to the COVID-19, Masks are Encouraged but Not Required While Attending the Services and During Visitation Hours. However, wearing masks ensures safety for you and others. Thank you.”
