Ms. Carolyn Deloris Butler

Carolyn Deloris Butler was born on June 27, 1956, in Stamps, Arkansas, to Ester Rufus of Stamps, Arkansas, and James Herrin of Los Angeles, California. Carolyn was a proud graduate of Stamps High School, Class of 1974. During her school years, she was affectionately nicknamed “Rudy” by her teammates on the basketball court and on the track and field team, reflecting her determination, strength, and spirited personality. Carolyn dedicated 30 years of service to the Federal Government, working with the Defense Finance and Accounting Service as an Accounting Technician. Her career reflected her commitment, diligence, and strong work ethic. A devoted Christian, Carolyn loved her Lord and Savior deeply. Her church home was Grace Community and World Outreach Christian Center Church in Texarkana, Texas, where she remained faithful in worship and fellowship. Over the years, Carolyn’s journey took her far beyond her hometown of Stamps. Through her work and travels with friends and family, she experienced many places around the world. Along the way she made homes in Davenport, Iowa; Columbus, Ohio; and finally, Texarkana, Arkansas. She was also a proud member of the Eastern Star, Naomi Chapter in Davenport, Iowa. Carolyn enjoyed many simple pleasures in life. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and friends, attending church services, working crossword puzzles, reading, and collecting DVDs. She was the loving mother of three sons: Christopher Butler (Texarkana, AR), Brian Butler(deceased), and Brandon Butler (Arlington, TX). Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Ester Rufus; her sons, Christopher Butler and Brandon Butler; her sister, Donna Demouy of Houston, Texas; her uncle, Glen Hill (Wichita, KS); her grandsons, Braeden Butler and Christopher Butler II; and her niece, Brandi Demouy-St. Marie (Great Falls, Montana), along with many extended family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives she touched. Carolyn will be remembered for her faith, strength, kindness, and the love she shared with her family and friends. Celebration of Life services will be held Saturday, March 28th, 2026, at Grace Community & World Outreach Christian Center Church in Texarkana, Texas at 1:00 p.m., with burial to follow with Military Honors at Lakeside Cemetery in Stamps, Arkansas, under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home, LLC. “For precaution due to the COVID-19, Masks are Encouraged but Not Required While Attending the Services. However, wearing masks ensures safety for you and others. Thank you.”
