Mr. Charles Leon "Big Papa" Witcher

Charles Leon Witcher, affectionately known as “Big Papa,” was born on January 11, 1961, in Waldo, Arkansas, to the late Laverne Witcher and Howard Witcher Sr. He departed this life on April 17, 2026, in Magnolia, Arkansas, at the age of 65. Charles was a 1979 graduate of Waldo High School. He worked at Elk Roofing in Stephens, Arkansas, and later dedicated 35 years of service to Alumax/Alcoa. At an early age, he joined Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where he remained connected until his health began to fail. He was also a member of the International Free & Accepted Modern Masons. Charles had a deep love for sports. He played both baseball and basketball and also served as a baseball coach to Mark Ludwig. He enjoyed all sports and loved spending time talking with his friends, sons, and grandchildren. Known as a people person, Charles had a kind and caring spirit. He also helped his wife care for multiple children who did not live in their home, showing the love and compassion he had for others. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching the cooking channel and Dr. Pimple Popper. Charles was united in marriage to Patsy Witcher in 1983. At the time of his passing, they had shared 43 years of marriage. Patsy remains to cherish his memory, along with his sons, Jamarkey Witcher and his wife, Kenyaira, of Waldo, Arkansas, and Charles Witcher and his wife, Tiara, of Irving, Texas; his godson, Pierre Robinson of Little Rock, Arkansas; his honorary son, Randy Hill of Balch Springs, Texas; and his goddaughters, Robin Robertson of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Denisha Turner of Magnolia, Arkansas. He also leaves his grandchildren, Stry’Darius Witcher, Da’Tayvious Flowers, Jamarion Witcher, Dawayvein Witcher, Charles “CJ” Witcher Jr., JaRiya Witcher, Kaylee Witcher, Ladaja Sanders, JaKayden Witcher, Ja’Miir Witcher, Ja’Miya Witcher, and LaTerrion Alexander; and his great grandchildren, Kenslee Witcher, Loyal Witcher, Skylyn Sander, and Tyler Davis. Charles also leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, John (Annie) Witcher and Mary Beth (Fred) Cooper; his godchildren, De’Nicklas Brown, Heaven Brown, Sundaey Brown, and Dior Williams; two god-great grandchildren; his very special aunt, Linda Askew; his special uncle, Richard Askew; his favorite sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Eugene Priggett; and very special cousins, Kendall Dismuke, Darlene Maxwell, Jerry Smith, and Shelly Freeman. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Laverne Witcher and Howard Witcher Sr.; his son, Strodney Witcher; his sister, Marylin Witcher; his brother, Howard Witcher Jr.; his maternal grandmother, Corrine King; his maternal grandfather, Ernest Howell; his paternal grandparents, Brass and Lillian Witcher; and his nephew, Jamelle Cooper. Celebration of Life services will be held Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, at R.L. Reed Funeral Home in Magnolia, Arkansas at 2:00 p.m., with burial to follow at Kendrick Chapel Cemetery in Willisville, Arkansas, under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home, LLC. Visitation will be held Friday {May 1st}, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., at R.L. Reed Funeral Home in Magnolia, Arkansas. “For precaution due to the COVID-19, Masks are Encouraged but Not Required While Attending the Services and During Visitation Hours. However, wearing masks ensures safety for you and others. Thank you.”
