"Hi everyone, if you are at this point that means I no longer have the power to speak to you one on one. I am doing this eulogy because I do not want anyone to suffer the pain of having to relive old memories while I lay here cold and unresponsive. First, I would like to say goodbye to all of you just in case I did not have the opportunity to do so before I left. I really do not know what to say, but here we go. I was born October 1, 1959 in Magnolia to Dossie (Reed) and the late Wilfer Henderson, Sr. I was the oldest of seven children. I attended and graduated in 1977 from Walker Public School 5th in my class. I was an active member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Church from the age of ten until my demise. I married Jerome Stevenson in 1977 and to this union we had four sons. We were separated in 1981 and remained so until my death. I worked at Hudson Foods (7 yrs.), Willamette Industries (4 yrs.), and Cooper Standard Automotive (5 yrs.) When Cooper laid me off with no recall in 2005, I was given the opportunity to go back to school, at which time I started classes at SAU. After receiving my AA in 2008 degree, I decided to continue my studies receiving my BS in 2009 and my MPA in 2012. I returned to school in 2014 to work toward my degree in social work but did not make it due to my untimely demise. I do not want my family and friends to mourn my passing, but celebrate my home going because I was truly blessed and highly favored by God’s mercy and grace. To have each of you in my life was definitely a blessing from God and I loved each of you equally. First, I would like to say thank you to my mom for all that she and my dad instilled in me that made me a better woman and for preparing me to overcome the many obstacles that I faced in life. I would like to thank my sister and brothers and their spouses for helping me when I did not think I would make it as I tried to be a good mother, daughter, and sister/sister-in-law. I would also like to thank my sons, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren for being a support group and inspiration for me which made my life complete. To Rev. Wendell Colen and my church family thank you all for being a village while I struggled to transform my sons into the productive men that they are today. I would like to finish by saying that I fought a good fight, I lived a good life, and now that I am gone, I am at peace. May God bless you all until we meet again." Evelyn was preceded in death by her father, Wilfer Henderson, Sr. She leaves her legacy and loving memories to her husband, Jerome Stevenson, Sr.; four sons who brought her so much joy: Jerome Stevenson, Sr. (Surronda), Dameno Stevenson (Tasianna), Arqualius Stevenson, and Nathan Stevenson (Demetria); her mother, Dossie Henderson; one sister, Geraldine Henderson; five brothers, Wilfer Henderson, Jr. (Gwendolyn), Ronald Henderson (Jessica), Stephen Henderson (Sylvia), Kenneth Henderson (Jiashia), and Jarvis Henderson (Barbara); grandchildren: Beyonce’ Stevenson, Jamiyon Stevenson, Dameno Stevenson, Jr., Tyler Stevenson, Tatiyana Stevenson, Yasmine Morris, Amarion Stevenson, DaQuavious Stevenson, JaRhiya Stevenson, Keunta Smith, Darrius Stevenson, Dacorius Stevenson, Ethan Stevenson, Kadarious Williams, and Kalijah; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly. Graveside Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 2nd, 2020, at 23rd Psalms Cemetery in Magnolia, Arkansas at 2:30 p.m., under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, “Everyone Is Required To Wear A Mask While Attending The Services and During Visitation Hours”. This ensures safety for you and others.
