Mr. Larry Burt Jackson

Larry B. Jackson, affectionately known as “Short Dog,” of Magnolia, Arkansas entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the age of 71, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Conway, Arkansas. He was born October 25, 1954, to Gracie Mae McCray Jackson and the late Junior Lee Jackson in Magnolia, Arkansas. He received his spiritual rearing at New Bethel Baptist Church, which led him to accept Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He later moved his membership to Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. B. J. Harris. Larry’s early childhood education began at Freehope School located in the Freehope Community of Magnolia, AR. His education then transitioned to Calhoun Heights and to Columbia High School. He completed his educational journey at Magnolia High School where he was a member of the Class of 1974. Larry worked many years at Unit Structures. Occasionally he would run into friends he worked with, and it gave him absolute joy talking and reminiscing about their time there. Larry had the sweetest spirit and a heart pure as gold. He was a great provider for his beloved mother, making sure she had everything she needed and anything she thought she wanted. He took pride in looking out for his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. Larry never met a stranger. He would always greet you with a smile no matter where you saw him. His favorite places to go were Walmart, Mac’s, and S&S Home Center. He loved his family and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved any activity his great nieces and great nephews were involved in. He really looked forward to the fishing derbies with his great nephew Jace. When he wasn’t fishing, you could find him in the Panther stands cheering on his great nephew Nyc and his great niece Amani. If by chance you didn’t see him in the Panther stands, you were sure to see him in the Mulerider stands. He could be seen in both stands enjoying the games, his popcorn, and good company. He and Officer Edwards would run into each other often in the Panther stands. They were longtime co-workers and friends. His presence will be greatly missed. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Junior Lee Jackson; maternal grandparents, Bobbie and Dock McCray; paternal grandparents, Addie Lee and Fred Jackson; his only child, Marlon Jermaine Jackson; six aunts; seven uncles; a brother, Charles E. Jackson; and a sister-in-law of Colorado Springs, CO, Savanna Jackson. Treasured memories will remain with his loving mother, Gracie Mae Jackson of the home; sister, Marjorie Brown of Texarkana, TX; brother, Troy Jackson of Colorado Springs, CO; sister-in-law, Vevelyn Ann Jackson of Magnolia, AR; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that he had unwavering love for. Celebration of Life services will be held Thursday, February 26th, 2026, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Magnolia, Arkansas at 1:00 p.m., with burial to follow at New Bethel/St. John Cemetery in Magnolia, under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home, LLC. Dr. B.J. Harris, Pastor/Eulogist. Visitation will be Wednesday, {Feb. 25th}, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at R.L. Reed Funeral Home in Magnolia, Arkansas. “For precaution due to the COVID-19, Masks are Encouraged but Not Required While Attending the Services and During Visitation Hours. However, wearing masks ensures safety for you and others. Thank you.”
