Mrs. Sylvia George Hall

We, the staff of R.L. Reed Funeral Home, extend our deepest condolences and prayers to the family of Sis. Sylvia George Hall, 89, of Emerson, Arkansas. Sis. Sylvia George Hall was born on November 9, 1936, to the late Mattie Faye Penegar George & late Joe Roy George, Sr. She became a proud Alumna of McMittress High School in 1954. She briefly attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (formerly known as AM&N College), before returning home to marry Green Hall, Jr., affectionately known as Jr. Hall. To this union, two daughters were born, Jackie & Bonita. After the passing of her daughter, Bonita, Sylvia raised & later adopted her granddaughter, Kimberly. Sylvia went to work at Edmont Wilson, the Glove Factory in Haynesville, LA, & worked there until retirement. Sylvia joined Forest Grove CME Church at an early age. As an adult, she enjoyed attending & working in the church throughout the years. Sylvia served in several roles at Forest Grove CME Church, such as serving on the Stewardess Board, teaching Sunday School, Ushering, serving as Secretary. Sylvia was also a member of “Mothers in Prayer”. Pine Hill CME Church became her church home after the sister churches merged and became one church. She was a faithful member of Pine Hill and enjoyed attending until she was no longer able to attend. Sylvia was also an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Tally Chapter#87, Emerson, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents: Joe Roy George, Sr. & Mattie Faye Johnson; Daughter: Bonita Cecilia Hall; Brothers: Joe Roy George, Jr. & J.W. Watts; Sister, Evelyn George Martin; & Brothers-In-Law, Arthur Samuel Martin & George Malcolm Eskridge. Sylvia leaves to cherish her loving memory: her daughters, Jackie Copeland (Joe), and Kimberly Cooper (Regi); Grandchildren, Verlondra Copeland, Joe Copeland, Jr., Terry Simmons, Sr., Marissa Copeland, & Riley Cooper; Great Grandchildren, Jasmyn Copeland, Terry Simmons, Jr., & Carson Simmons; Sister, Geraldine Eskridge; Brother, J.B. Watts (Almoree); beloved Nieces, Nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Celebration of Life services will be held Saturday, August 22nd, 2026, at Pine Hill CME in Emerson, Arkansas at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Forest Grove Cemetery in Emerson, under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home, LLC. Minister Michael Story, Eulogist. Visitation will be Friday, {Aug. 21st}, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at R.L. Reed Funeral Home. “For precaution due to the COVID-19, Masks are Encouraged but Not Required While Attending the Services and During Visitation Hours. However, wearing masks ensures safety for you and others. Thank you.” Sis.
