Mr. Terry Lynn "Thrill" Hill

Terry Lynn Hill was born on April 29, 1969, in Magnolia, Arkansas to the late Johnnie Hill and Daisy M. Hill. Terry was a 1987 graduate of Magnolia High School. Upon graduation, he attended Southern Arkansas University and joined the delayed entry program into the United States Army Reserves. He remained a member of the Army Reserve until his enlistment into the United States Navy in 1990 as raining and Administration of Reservist (TAR) Sailor where he was assigned to his first tour of duty abroad USS Joseph F. Hewes FFT 1078; earning his Enlisted Surface Warfare Pin onboard this vessel. The Shore Intermediated Maintenance Activity in Mayport, Florida was his follow-on duty assignment. There he served as Team Leader of the onsite calibration shop. While stationed in Mayport, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics Management from Southern Illinois University of Carbondale. Terry went on to complete many overseas deployments including England, Scotland, Ireland, and a host of other countries. During his fourth shore tour with the Navy and Marine Corps Reserve Center in Fort Worth, Texas, he filled many billets on post. He had the distinct pleasure of training over a thousand reservists while serving various collateral duties. Terry’s follow-on tours include USS Simpson FFG-56 in Mayport, Florida; The Navy Operational Support Center (NOSC) in Shreveport, Louisiana; the USS Frank Cable AS 40 in Agana, Guan and NOSC in San Antonio, Texas. Terry had a passion and dedication for education and professional growth that was unyielding. He successfully completed the Master Training Specialist Certification and later earned a Master of Art Degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. He continued his career endeavors by completing the Command Master Chief Program with the US Navy. In 2015, Terry transferred to NOSC Waco and served as the Command Master Chief until retirement in 2018. Terry was a doctoral candidate for a Doctorate of Management in Organizational Leadership. Terry led a very successful career serving in the United States armed forces for more than thirty years. His personal life was as equally successful and fulfilling. Terry turned his love for music into a life-long career as a professional disc jockey. However, his most notable accomplishment was being a proud member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated ®. In 2001, Terry married Jada L. Gardner who preceded him in death. To this union, two daughters were born. In 2017, he was blessed to marry his friend and partner for life, Pamela R. Williams. They became a beautifully blended family with eight children. Terry departed this life on Thursday, March 14, 2024, among family. Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Daisy M. Hill and father, Johnnie Hill. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Pamela; five daughters: Chantey Harris, Kymyara Hill, Oceana Hill, Gillian Hill and Giselle Hill; bonus children: Preston Williams, Hailey Nichols and Hayden Green; five sisters: Weavie Finister, Linda Jones, Rose (Calvin) Scoggins, Sandra Gantt, and Lisa (Donnie) Todd; three brothers: Tony (Etta) Smith, Jerry (Frances) Hill and Eric (Tracey) Hill. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and close friends who will miss him dearly. Celebration of Life services will be held Saturday, March 23rd, 2024, at Columbia District Auditorium (Youngblood) in Magnolia, Arkansas at 1:00 p.m., with burial to follow with Military Honors at New Bethel/St. John Cemetery in Magnolia, under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home, LLC. Visitation will be Friday, {Mar. 22nd}, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., at R.L. Reed Funeral Home in Magnolia, Arkansas. “For precaution due to the COVID-19, Masks are Encouraged but Not Required While Attending the Services or During Visitation Hours. However, wearing masks ensures safety for you and others. Thank you.”
