Mrs. Valestene Cooper-Jackson

Valestene Jackson passed from this life on Saturday, December 2, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born November 24, 1946, to the union of Lloyd, Sr. and Ellie (Seals) Cooper. Valestene attended Walker School. She worked at CB Form Company until she became disabled. She was a faithful member of Jones Chapel Baptist Church—where she served until her health failed. Valestene was an exceptional cook and well-known for her Sunday dinners. No one could cook hot water cornbread like Valestene. Many years ago, she sold chili dogs and candy out of her home. The neighborhood children lovingly referred to her as, “Candy Lady.” She thoroughly enjoyed hosting family dinners and would always cook enough to feed an entire army. Valestene lived a life of service. If anyone was in need, Valestene would step in without hesitation. Serving others brought her the greatest joy. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thurman Jackson; son, James Z. Brown, Jr.; and sister, Navil Anderson. She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters: Joyce Porchia—and loving son-in-love, Cedric Porchia of Muskegon, MI; Jackie Monk and Glynda Reed, both of Magnolia, AR; sons: James Evans (Xenia), Dashawn Evans (Jennifer), Curt Reed, and Steve Reed; a very special niece and sidekick, Casanti Williams; two daughters-in-love, Sharon Moman and Juanita Battle; three sisters: Mary Montgomery, Charlette (L.C.) Cooper-Jones, and Diane Rowden—her best friend, all of Magnolia, AR; three brothers: Lloyd (Dorothy) Cooper, Jr. of Magnolia, AR, Harold (Linda) Cooper of Muskegon, MI, and Herman Dean Cooper of San Diego, CA; 11 grandchildren; five great granddaughters; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will sorely miss her. Celebration of Life services will be held Friday, December 8th, 2023, at the Columbia District Auditorium (Youngblood) in Magnolia, Arkansas, at 1:00 p.m., with burial to follow at 23rd Psalms Cemetery in Magnolia, Arkansas, under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home, LLC. Rev. Michael Clayton, Eulogist. Services will be live streamed: https://www.facebook.com/rlreedfuneralhome. Visitation will be Thursday, {Dec. 7th} from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m., at R.L. Reed Funeral Home in Magnolia, Arkansas. “For precaution due to the COVID-19, Masks are Encouraged but Not Required While Attending the Services or During Visitation Hours.” However, wearing masks ensures safety for you and others.
