Charles Earl “Charlie” Brown, 58 yr. of Sulphur Springs, TX. passed away December 31st in Sulphur Springs, TX. He was born October 24, 1958 in Stamps, AR. to Ruth Helen Rucks-Heath. He was adopted by the late Rev. Raymond & Minnie Brown. He accepted Christ at an early age at County Line Baptist Church in Stamps, AR. He was a 1977 graduate of Stephens High School, he served in the United States Marines Corp. Following his military service, he resided in Dallas, TX. for 37 yrs. and later moved to Sulphur Springs, TX in 2016 where he rededicated his life to Christ on September 4, 2016 at New Beginnings Full Gospel Deliverance Ministries under the pastorage of Pastor Deborah Pridmore-Gilmore. He was known as a fun-loving serviceable person, whom we like to acknowledge as God’s personal “Handyman”. Charles was greatly skilled in a wide range of home and mechanical repairs. If his church family or friends needed something repaired, he was the man to call. He was preceded in death by his mother, adoptive parents, his wife; Brenda Whidby Brown, his paternal grandparents; James & Minnie Rucks, one sister; Robbie Hempstead, aunts & uncles; Ruby Prevoe, Deloris Adams, Otis Rucks, Harry Rucks. A nephew; Strodney Witcher, cousins; Rodney Rucks & Michael Prevoe. Survivors include; one son; Oddis Whidby, Sr. & wife Andrea of Dallas, TX., his grandson; Oddis Whidby, Jr., a god-daughter, Porchia Brooks of Dallas, TX. A god-son; Decovian Phillips of Cooper, TX. His siblings; Patricia Priggett & husband Eugene of Perris, CA., Patsy Witcher & husband Charles of Waldo, AR., Terry Robertson & wife Betty of Hope, AR., Billy Grissom & wife Regina of Waldo, AR., Wesley Hempstead of Gurdon, AR., Darren Sparks & wife Candy of Denver, CO., Ernest Heath & wife Jodie of Little Rock, AR. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 7th, at 2:30 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church in Waldo, AR., with burial to follow in the Lakeside Cemetery in Stamps, AR. Under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home, LLC of Magnolia, AR. Officiating will be Pastor Hal W. Prevoe, assisted by Pastor Deborah Pridmore-Gilmore. Visitation: Friday 11: a.m. till 4: p.m. at the funeral home. Active Pallbearers: Eugene Priggett, Cory Johnson, William Johnson, Dedrick Philson, Rodrick Philson, Quincy Dickens.
