Mr. Fred Oliver "Jake" Gillard

Mr. Fred Oliver Gillard, “Jake”, 79 yrs. old, of Lewisville, Arkansas, passed Tuesday night, January 12, 2021 at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas. Fred Oliver “Jake” Gillard was born on January 9, 1942 to Cleve, Sr. and Pearl Willis Gillard in Stamps, AR. He attended school on the Ellis campus. At an early age, Fred taught himself how to play the guitar and performed locally with his peers. He mostly enjoyed playing at family gatherings with his Uncles, Ellis and Lorinzer Willis. Fred was employed with Alan White at Stamps in 1984 and worked there until its closure. He married Gloria Smith and to this union two children were born: Cristy R. Smith and Eldrick Gillard. Fred is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, brothers: Tommy Gillard, Cleve Gillard, Jr., Otis Gillard, and Sister: Louise Flenory. He leaves to cherish his memories: Daughters: Cristy R. Vaughn of Huntsville, AL and Jacquetta Gillard of Los Angeles, CA; one son, Eldrick Smith of Huntsville, AL; Brother, Charles R. Gillard of Huntsville, AL; Sisters, Ophelia Smith (Jimmy) of Stamps, AR and Verdell Johnson (Howard) of Ft. Worth, Texas; two step daughters, Kisha Smith and Regina Smith of Lewisville, AR; Special friends: Fred and Kathy Washington of Stamps, AR and Osie Pree of Lewisville, AR, 16 grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Fred was loved by his bonus daughter, Amanda Roseborough of Huntsville, AL. His very special friend, Marilyn Ann Green remained by his side throughout his life and cherished him unconditionally. Graveside Celebration of Life services will be held Saturday, January 23rd, 2021, at Lakeside Cemetery in Stamps, Arkansas at 11:00 a.m., under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home. Rev. Curtis Hughey eulogist. Visitation will be Friday, January 22nd, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, “Everyone Is Required To Wear A Mask While Attending The Services and During Visitation Hours”.
