Mrs. Lee Versia Madison
January 6, 1942 - January 22, 2021
Lee Versia Madison was born on January 6, 1942 to James and Pinkie Lowe. She grew up around the areas of Falcon and Willisville, AR with families of both her mom and dad. At an early age, our beloved Lee united with the Clevet Springs Baptist Church where she served under the leadership of the late Rev. P.B. Sharp and the late Rev. D.R. Radford. She was always busy, whether sewing, cooking, doing hair or even creative decorating. Lee was a kind and gentle person whose faith in God would sustain her for 79 years. She had a certain determination that gave her the courage and strength to push through many rough and trying times. As life would have it, she relocated to Phoenix, AZ in 1988 to help care for her mother. Her magnetic personality was one of a kind. Several children, including some from the Radford family called her “Aunt Lee”. While residing in Phoenix, AZ, she became affectionately known as “Momma Lee” to both young and old alike. On May 1, 1973, Lee would marry Melvin Madison Jr, with whom she would spend her remaining years. They would watch the children and grandchildren grow, showering them with love and affection. You could always expect Lee to have a song in her heart. She would walk through the house singing as she carried out her daily responsibilities. She often sang a song entitled “May the Work I’ve Done Speak for Me.” While trying to live an upright life, she endeavored to share the love of God with whomever she encountered. She had a way of slipping “God” into every conversation, just to make you stop and think. Her greatest desire was that each of her offspring would have a strong relationship with Christ. After spending many years in Arizona, she and her husband returned to Arkansas where they reunited with Clevet Springs Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Ray Johnson. Having fought a good fight, Lee Versia gained her wings on January 22, 2021. Proceeding her in death are her parents James and Pinkie Lowe, her brothers Otha McKinney, Elmer McKinney Sr, Sam Oliver Jr (Lora), her sisters Versie Beasley, Della Henry, Gladys Wesley and her two sons James H. Wesley and David Mask. She leaves to cherish her memory: husband of almost 48 years Melvin Madison Jr, children-Kenneth W. Wesley (Annetta) of Gilbert, AZ, six grandchildren-Kenneth J. Wesley, Veon McGlory (James), Arvin Dismuke Sr. (Brianna), Kevin Williams, LaKia Williams, La-Shay Easter, eleven great grandchildren of the Greater Phoenix Area, godson Dezmond Chappell of Phoenix, AZ and a host of family and friends whom she loved dearly. Celebration of Life services will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Lafayette County Football Stadium (Keith Stadium) in Stamps, AR, at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Clevet Springs Cemetery in Falcon, AR, under the direction of R.L.
