Ms. Marilyn Marie Murphy

Sister Marilyn Murphy began her life’s journey on January 10, 1955, in Emerson, Arkansas. She made her Heavenly transition on Monday, April 20, 2020. Marilyn was born to the late Tom Murphy, Sr., and the late Aggie Mae (Johnson) Murphy. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Pine Hill C.M.E. Church in Emerson, Arkansas. She was a devoted and faithful member to her church until she could no longer attend. She took great pride in dressing up and being able to go to church—despite her vision loss. Marilyn would always ask, “How do I look?’ She was truly fortunate to been cared for by loving family members that included her daughter, grandson, brother, sister-in-law, and her church family daily. Marilyn received her formal education in the McMittress and Emerson School Districts in Emerson, Arkansas. She later became a homemaker—which included her being a nanny to nieces, nephews, and neighborhood children. She is preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Barry Dean Scott; four sisters, Minnie, Ida Faye, Bettye, and Alverdia; and two brothers, Tom, Jr., and Willie James Murphy. Those left to cherish her memories are her loving and devoted daughter and grandson, Wanda Evette Scott & Cedric Scott, both of Emerson, Arkansas; devoted brother and sister-in-law, Winston and Mamie Murphy of Mc Neil, Arkansas; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Graveside Celebration of Life Services will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at Anderson Cemetery in Emerson, Arkansas at 1:00 p.m., under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home, LLC.
