Sis. Mattie Watts was born October 10, 1918, to the late Tilly Bradford and Lillian Maxwell in Belcher, Louisiana. She departed this life on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at her home. She accepted Christ at an early age in Louisiana. Later in life, as a young woman, she relocated to Waldo where she met and married the late Calvin Coolidge Watts. She became a member of New Bethel A.M.E. Church in Waldo, where she was an active member of the Women’s Missionary Society, served on the Trustee and Steward Boards, Prayer Band, and was a dedicated member of the choir. Sister Watts was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and six brothers. She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Annette Hardwell of Waldo, Arkansas; two stepsons, Calvin Watts, Jr. of Magnolia, Arkansas, and Larry (Asarene) Watts of Leeds, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Chasmund Watts, Desmond Hardwell both of Waldo, Arkansas, Calvin (Keesha) Watts III of Grand Prairie, Texas, Mundrick Watts of Fort Worth, Texas, Lydia (Walter) Bell of Norcross, Georgia, Lauren (Marvin) Stevenson of Cypress, Texas, Dexter (Kizzy) Crockett of Magnolia, Arkansas; and a host of great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Graveside Celebration of Life services will be held Wednesday, August 19th, 2020, at Smith Cemetery in Waldo, Arkansas, at 11:00 a.m., under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home. Rev. Shirley Renix officiating/eulogist. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, anyone attending the graveside services, “MUST WEAR A MASK.” Thank you. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 18th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
