Mr. Roy Lay Bean Jr.

Roy Lay Bean, Jr., 58 of Magnolia, AR., passed away December 19th at Life Touch Hospice House in El Dorado, AR. He was born September 24, 1958 in Sacramento, CA. to Roy Lay Bean, Sr. and Beatrice Dates-Bean. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister; Yvonne Bean, and a brother-in-law; Kenny Dale Franklin. He attended Hiram W. Johnson, Sr. High School in Sacramento, CA, an all-around athlete in basketball, baseball, football, and track. He graduated in 1977 and soon after enlisted into the U.S. Army, August 3, 1977, was stationed all over the world, Korea, Germany, Greece, Ft. Hood, TX., Ft. Bliss, TX., Ft. Gordon, GA., Ft. Lewis, WS, Camp San Luis Obispo, CA., and Camp Roberts, CA. He retired December 30, 2009 from the U.S. National Guard, a total of 32 years of military service. He obeyed the Gospel of Christ in 1992 at Southside Church of Christ in Los Angeles, CA. Upon retirement from the military, they moved to Magnolia, AR., where he became a member of Southview Church of Christ, where he zealously served the Lord and genuinely loved the congregation. He diligently supported the work of the church and started the Audio Visual (DVD) Ministry. He was avid baseball fan; his favorite team was the San Francisco Giants. He enjoyed football, basketball, boxing, fishing, & watching old Western TV shows. Survivors include; his wife: Mrs. Delois Franklin-Bean, four children; Le’Juan Bean & spouse Mia, Aisha Raquel Bean, Roishaunta Victoria Cox & spouse Willie, Roy L. Bean III “Three”. His siblings, Lorraine Bean, Brenda Bea, Anthony Bean, Terry Bean, and Zachary Bean all of Sacramento, CA. His mother-in-law; Betty Franklin of Mountain Pine, AR. His brothers-in-law; Ricky Franklin and Dewayne Franklin of Hot Springs, AR., sisters-in-law; Yvonne Houston of Magnolia, AR., and Linda Black of Bellflower, CA. and Kimberly Bean of Sacramento, CA. Five grandchildren: Steven & Evelyn Brown, Briana Cheyenne Bush, Darin and Aidan Thomas & four great-grandchildren: Kamiya Kaufusi, Alina Brown, Alani brown, and Kaylin Brown. A host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Homegoing celebration will be held Tuesday, December 27th, at 2:00 p.m. at Southview Church of Christ in Magnolia, AR. and Monday, January 2nd, at 11: a.m. at The Light Christian Church, 7257 East South Gate Dr. in Sacramento, CA., with burial to follow, with full Military Honors, at Camellia Memorial Lawn in Sacramento, CA. Under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home, LLC of Magnolia, AR. and Thompson Rose Chapel, in Sacramento, CA. Officiating will be Bro. Jeffers Jefferson. Visitation Monday from 5-6: p.m. at the funeral home.
