Mr. Dewayne Lawrence Cornish

On October 31, 2023, Dewayne gained his heavenly wings. He was born on July 20, 1977, to the late Terry L. Cornish Sr. and Linda Wyrick. Dewayne was a graduate of SHS Class of 1995. He was active in sports and had a passion for football and baseball. He was a member of the Buchanan Baptist Church. As a youth, he was in the choir, on the usher board, and a young deacon. As an adult, his relationship with God grew. He didn’t waver in his faith. Dewayne was well known in his community and went by many names: Convict, Tightboy, Astar, and others. He loved the children and sowed words of wisdom into the lives of the young adults. He could detail your car as well as cut some hair. He loved rapping and had a passion and gift for writing poetry. He was preceded in death by his father, Terry L. Cornish Sr., his sister Lelia D. Cornish, his maternal grandparents, Robert D. Easter and Margie R. Brock, his paternal grandparents, Murdis L. Cornish and Leilia M. Cornish, and nephew, Jordan Cornish. He leaves to cherish his memories: mother, Linda Wyrick of Stamps, Arkansas; daughters, Kontari Cornish and Curtisha Cornish of Stamps, Arkansas, and Ebony Cornish of Abilene, Texas; sons Dewayne Cornish Jr. of Texarkana, Texas, and Daren Cornish of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Jay’Kayvion, Kamryn, Raielyn, Londyn, and Jream; sisters, Demecia Cornish of Dallas, Texas, Jonneshiva Easter Cornish of Stamps, Arkansas, and Wanda Dickens of Gurdon, Arkansas; and special sister, Konisha Harris of Stamps, Arkansas; brother, Terry Cornish Jr. of Gurdon, Arkansas, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives. Celebration of Life services will be held Saturday, November 11th, 2023, at Lafayette County School Auditorium in Lewisville, Arkansas, at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Stamps, Arkansas, under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home, LLC. Rev. Lee Patrick Miller Sr., Officiant. Rev. Frankie B. Mitchell, Eulogist. Visitation will be Friday, {Nov. 10th} from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., at R.L. Reed Funeral Home in Magnolia, Arkansas. “For precaution due to the COVID-19, Masks are Encouraged but Not Required While Attending the Services or During Visitation Hours.” However, wearing masks ensures safety for you and others.
