Mr. Lee Otis "Shorty" Leaks

Lee Otis Leaks, lovingly known as “Shorty,” was born on January 29, 1947, in McNeil, Arkansas, to the late Bettie Mae Pearson and Roosevelt Leaks. On Sunday, July 6, 2025, he peacefully entered eternal rest. Otis received his education in the McNeil School District and later dedicated many years of service to Duke Lumber before retiring. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life—fishing, caring for his yard, and working on cars. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rosemary Leaks, Bessie Ann Leaks, and Patricia Burnell; and brothers, Otta Weaver, Robert Leaks, Calvin Leaks, and Jimmy Leaks. Cherishing his memory are his devoted wife of 49 years, Ruby L. Curry Leaks of McNeil, AR; four daughters: Tracey Leaks of McNeil, AR, Rachel Hardiman of Tampa, FL, Joyce Ann (Alonzo) Clark of Dallas, TX, and Jossetta Leaks of Texas. He is also survived by sisters: Helen (Ira) Roach and Peggy Ann (Otis) Christopher, both of McNeil, AR; Betty Ann Redman of Liberty, TX; Rosa Ann (Calvin) Leaks, Bobbie Leaks, Diane Leaks, Etta Leaks, and Angela Leaks, all of Magnolia, AR; Linda Johnson of Little Rock AR, Mildred Johnson of Cleveland, OH. His memory also lives on through his brothers: Donald Ray (Schnova) George, Michael (Michelle) Leaks, Hurbert Leaks, Donald Leaks, Terry Leaks, Alonzo Leaks, Freddie L. (Tameka) Leaks, and Romontary (Dominque) Leaks, all of Magnolia, AR. He leaves behind his sister-in-law, Rosa Weaver of Dallas, TX; a dear friend, Freeman Christopher; and two special nieces who served as his caregivers, Veronica McBride and Victoria Flowers, along with another devoted caregiver, Liz Mallory. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends will forever hold his memory in their hearts. Celebration of Life services will be held Saturday, July 26th, 2025, at R.L. Reed Funeral Home Chapel in Magnolia, Arkansas 2:00 p.m., with burial to follow at St. Matthew Cemetery in McNeil, Arkansas, under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home LLC. Supt. Donald Page, Officiant/Eulogist. A visitation will be Friday {Jul. 25th} from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., at R.L. Reed Funeral Home. “For precaution due to the COVID-19, Masks are Encouraged but Not Required While Attending the Services and During Visitation Hours. However, wearing masks ensures safety for you and others. Thank you.”
